Reflection
This project has opened my eyes to the sacrifices of the millions who served in WWII. The stories of these soldiers need to be recognized and reflected on in order to truly understand the time period. If I had the chance to speak to Paul Stambaugh, I would ask him how he was able to mentally prepare himself going into battle, knowing that lives are always at stake. I would also ask him what he felt he was fighting for and what motivated him to enlist. I feel the most important source I found is a document detailing the circumstances of his death, demonstrating that Stambaugh went down honorably in combat. Learning about a fallen solider more personally has refined my gratitude for those who sacrificed their lives for future generations.
